Hello,

I did a booking today for the offer. I would like to know if I will be given a call prior to the delivery of the goods. I ask this because I have given my residence address for delivery. So, I might not be available at all times there. And there is no one at home.

Also, please confirm that the "Reebok TShirt size" is "L" or "Large"

Thanks,

Sachin

Please cancel the order if these items are not coming via VPP:

a) 8 CD's

b) Reebok TShirt

c) Adidas Bag

I have seen numerous complaints on the internet regarding the non-delivery of the aforesaid items.

Needless to say, I will not accept the consignment if it doesn't contain the above said items and lastly, this is my last transaction with your organization.

Thanks,
Sachin

Nothing was mentioned in your TOC about gifts arriving late!

What is the use of providing TSHIRT size on your page( when I initially signed up for the offer..)when I need to inform you again about my size again now???

I understand your marketing gimmick. Do what you can. Am not accepting your parcel as you all have violated TOC's of the offer.

I am sorry but I am not accepting your offer.

Thereafter, I thought of writing to ITBC directly. In search of the ITBC contacts, I accidentally stumbled upon Mr. Prabhu Chawla’s blog.

So, I posted a comment to Mr. Prabhu Chawla on "Seedhi-Baat". I waited for a day, to see if action will be taken, before posting this piece on my blog.

Dear Mr. Chawla,

Greetings! I didn't stumble into your blog-site by chance and this doesn't pertain to the talk you had with Mr. Anand. But, rather, it is due to unavoidable circumstances. I am not too sure if you do write the blogs yourself or you have a "ghost-writer". I wouldn't care and further I don't know if this comment will approved. This is but a strict "Seedhi Baat" about what is happening with a subsidiary of India Today- the India Today Book Club.

Do you realize there are tens of hundreds of bad reviews for the book club and it is has reference directly to "Aajtak" as per the confidentiality note in the e-mails they sent?

I didn't care about these but ITBC has proved that the reviews are correct!!

As per the marketing policy, I received an email about CD's+TShirt+Adidas bag at Rs.1099(inclusive of delivery charges). I went ahead trusting your brand but it seems only the CD's will be sent. A lot of my friends have also been "cheated" like this-luring prospective customers with e-mails and not delivering what is promised.

I had a torrid time reaching the customer care and when I did, they informed me that I need to read the TOC. This is funny the ad about the offer is as big as the webpage itself and TOC doesn't specify sending packages by parts.

When I see "Aajtak", I see a lot of breaking news everyday, everyhour. Have you ever thought of portraying ITBC scam on your news channel? Or is the media based on selfish values?

I can give you lots of reviews available on the internet on ITBC, if you don't believe in this.

If you do not have the authority, do please forward to the authorities concerned. I trust you with the job of being a responsible constituent of the Indian Media.

Best Regards,
Sachin

I haven't yet received a feedback...

Incase you receive offers like this from any company, Remember to:-

a)Check offer reviews and feedback by searching the Internet. "ITBC" and companies like "Country Club" has tons of negative feedback from customers.

b)Check the e-mail address of the sender.

c)If you have doubts, approach the company through it customer care and inquire.

  1. Dude, this is pathetic. I could only half understand what Mr Jamshed Ali was trying to tell you in the first response from them!
I went through the URL you have given (regd complaints against ITBC) and it seems you were one among them! Truly shameful on India Today's part! It is supposed to be a brand of unshakeable ethics and this is utterly terrible on their part.
I suggest you go to consumer forum and lodge a complaint against them, otherwise this will never stop. And there will be many more people like you who will be cheated.
I have always been skeptical of such offers, and now I have solid proof thanks to you.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Yes, Rahul you are right in asking me to go to the consumers forum!

But, I haven't yet been cheated since the consignment was to arrive via VPP(Value Payable by Post) and if it doesn't contain the shipment stated in the advertisement, I will not accept it at all. I believe, I have every reason to do this.

When I called up the customer care, the guy on the other end informed me that only CD's are coming. To get the bag and the TShirt, there is another process.

    Wow!!

By the way, watch out for my next post on Credit Card companies. Have you ever tried closing them? It is a tough task...!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Err*
I mean tried closing the card...

    LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yes. Thankfully it's VPP - the old way so you have not paid anything yet. That's good.

As for Credit Card, yes I'm closing all my cards now. I have spoken to HSBC people and there didn't seem to be such a problem in that. However, will look forward to your post on them.

India Book Club offer seems to be running a fraud. I made the payment of 2499/= by card in Jan'09 till today I have not got the material. So many email correspondences has taken place. I noticed each mail writes same "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. ...", Initially I thought now something will be done. Now I am loosing faith on their words. Surprisingly Mr. Prabhu Chawla works for the group who supposedly grills the fraudulent. Why he is not correcting his own house? I do not know, so called consumer forums also seems only gimmick as no body pick up the phone?

    Hi
I had ordered 2 reebok watches worth 799.The order is still not reached its more than 2 months, got a call from blue dart that i will receivve it within 3 days.Should i accept it or not? its VPP but i am worried that can reebok make such cheap watches? do they even make a watch?
So i am quite diecy? will they be the original? wud it be a damaged one? plz tell me wat shud i do? can we open a VPP order and check and then pay?
plz reply soon as my order will reach soon..
    Janvi

  9. Hi Janvi,

Read the reviews about ITBC. You will not find a single positive feedback.

In my opinion, do not accept the packet. Again read the reviews for more information on the Rs.799/- offer and customer's inputs on the offer.

And I believe BlueDart might not accept back the packet if you open it.

First, read the TOC's carefully. Check how long does it normally take for delivery and when the shipment has actually arrived.

Normally, they do not send the gift along with the actual ordered item. You will get a voucher that you have to redeem and it will take a while before it comes or may not come at all.

wow and i thought i was alone.
but i was cheated not once but twice so that makes me unique.the first time i was charged twice for a product(raebok wallet/benetton watch...)and although more than 3 months have passed and they have accepted their mistake and in spite of several apologies nothing has happened.
the second time i was offered a holiday package and was charged for it and was sent a set of books of which there was no mention.God only knows what it would take to rectify this

These are Mother fuckers.I have also painful experience.I have communicated with them more than 30 times by mail and countless time by phone.I think I have spent more money in that than the original payment of Rs848.00.In my view we should teach a lesson to them.

Unfortunately I am another victim of the same racket. I placed an order for one Reebock summer kit in April this year and paid Rs.2198/- thru my credit card. First they somehow tried to get the payment twice which I stopped through my bank. So far I have not received anything. In reply to my each mai, they start with `We apologize for the inconvenience cause to you..` and so on. I have even talked to them over telephone and I got only assurance that my consignment will be delivered in a week.

This is unbelievable! The INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB is just another fraud company! Reading these reviews I feel that I have also fallen into the trap. In Jul I received a call from INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB and I remember the person who called us was Amit. They told me about an offer of Rs.7598 for the following:

    1. Rs.5000 diamond voucher

    2. home theater (DVD player +Speaker) with feature of USB pen drive playback as told to us.

    3. Reebok watch

WE made the payment through credit card on 25th Jul 2009 with full trust as it was INDIA TODAY book club - a renowned company!!!

After huge number of follow ups only from our side (there was not a single information regarding this delay from your side) we received our products on 23-Sep-2009.

When we checked the items we received, we were shocked to find such mismatch between the items spoken of and the items sent.

    1. There was no Rs.5000 diamond voucher for which we had agreed to the offer

    2. The home theater (DVD+Speaker) has no feature of USB pen drive playback as told to us. I have only accepted the offer due to this advanced feature. Otherwise there is no use of the product.

    3. The Reebok watch has no match with the dialogue I had with Mr. Amit.

I had wanted to check above the products before purchasing, but we were given wrong model nos. Therefore there was no way to check it on the website. We trusted in INDIA TODAY and purchased the product but were simply fooled.

We have cancelled another order ID: 110035778 payment made on the same day 25-Jul-2009, but the amount is still not deposited to our credit card.

We had not expected such response from INDIA TODAY. I myself is working from a renowned district network organisation and we have been in association with departments of INDIA TODAY. My husband is from IT department and we have a strong network. It is this disappointment that we feel to share so that people who get calls from INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB donot get carried away with the offers and fall to the trap.

Give us what you have offered!!!

I agree, i am suffering for more than two months after having palced orders with India Today Book Club,,,, it's a pity that reputed organisaitons like this are indulging in unethical practices.

Their people never come to deliver the goods & then they claim that no one was at home when the delivery guy came. It is a standard excuse they seem to be giving to a lot of people.

Can we make a sort of forum & file criminal cases against these people? Anyone interested may please call me.

My membership ID with India Today Book Club is ITBC08774081. I had placed an order (TELESALES/0GA090014244) worth Rs.1897/- for Reebok kit (shirt, watch, belts etc.) on 06-March-09. When the ordered items were not delivered after more than 4 months of order, I requested to cancel my order and refund the payment. I have been following up over phone and emails for last 12+ months, but ITBC team is unable to process my refund till today. What should it be called “fraud”, “failure of a REPUTED company in online business”, "shame", or what? Is there any chance to get my hard-earned money back?

SUCK MY BALLS INDIA TODAY BOOK CLUB. 0o . You buttholes should stick to selling that dumbass magazine of yours. my dad is really hardworking, gullibe, naive and trusting, and he put his faith in you pieces of shit to go on a holiday, meant to be a surprise for my mom for their 25th wedding annivesary. You cocksuckingbullshitters have so many hidden conditions and scam schemes, for example when you say you value your customers, you really mean you value your customers money. All of your offers have a hidden intention like that. For a holiday package that was meant to be 5000 bucks hes somehow ended up spending 50000 bucks for some outdated electronics and a watch that has a lizard for a strap. You've ruined my parents silver jubilee anniversary and now its personal, not just business. SCREW YOU GUYS.

  70. ITBC | Fraudsters and Cheats | Proposal for a Class Action Suit

    Hi,

    I am Sujata Garimella.

Like you, I too trusted the India Today name and had ordered stuff from ITBC. My experience was awful. I did not get what I ordered for. I did not get the promised "extras". And I did not get any solution either.

This whole nightmare started in September 2009 for me.

To top it all they still keep calling me.

I plan to sue them for Rs. 10 lakhs. I have started an action against them and would like more victims of ITBC's dirty tricks to join in because there is a lot of strength in numbers.
Please click the link below and join in.

    http://voip-india.webs.com/itbcsuethem.htm

Like you and me there are lakhs of other victims of ITBC's malpractices. There is a link in the web page above that will take you to a list of the sites on which people have complained. I request you to take the time and send at least 50 of them this mail and ask them to send it forward.

That way we can reach the maximum number of people in the shortest period of time and quickly initiate legal proceedings.

I hope we have 10,000 people and then, if not getting the money we can at least ensure that the company closes down.

Looking forward to take up arms together with you.

    Sujata

This is to make everybody inform that India Today Book Club is doing fraud with general public. They are digesting the money of general public’s hard earn money. This is from my personal experience. Which I want to discuss with my online visitors, so that they can protect their savings. These are the web links for online shopping. Please stay away from these shopping sites. I lost my `18000/- . Still they are not in the intension of refunding back.. From past 5 month they are just sending me the pre-formatted emails.
I got the same language and format more then 100 times. No satisfactory and convincing reply from the so called Big shopping company. I called so many times to their customer care no. but there is no customer service in this company. No feedback. All the people are shameless in that company. They are just keep postponing the matter as the have no intension to give back my money. So be aware from this kind of fraud companies. I know the brand name is very big but believe me services are worse.
This is the list of customer care representatives I spoke with and who give me worse experience. I started keeping the detailed log of my calling from the 9th June:
Senior in charges are Aadil / Kapil / Raashid / Salil. But no Sr. in charge is coming in front to give the answer why it’s taking too much time to resolve the matter. Why they are not refunding my money. SHAKILA is the TL in this company. There is no way to get the money back. May be when I take the legal step. I’ll get my money. There is no responsible Sr. officer in this company.

Here is the whole story about my bad experience:

This is Abhinav Mishra from Mumbai. This is about the order No. 880105829. Ref no. is OGA-100012266. I received the call from Sales department of INDIA TODAY BOOKCLUB in April. They offered me X-Box 360 to purchase. I agreed to purchase it but I told the representative to send me the X-Box 360’s upper model. At that time I didn’t know which upper model is. He told me that India today is offering Arcade model. I told him if it is the upper model sends me. I don’t want to buy lower model. But when I receive it I found there is a model comparison of upper model (Elite) and lower model ( Arcade ) on the top of the box of X-Box-360. Then I get to know that Elite is upper model and Arcade is lower model. I called the customer care and discuss the issue. They asked me if I am not satisfy with the product I can returned it back to India today and my money and currier charges will be refunded. I returned the parcel on 23-04-2010 through Blue Dart Currier. Sending you the Dispatch slip copy second time. First time I sent the slip on the same day when dispatched the parcel that means on 23-04-2010 .Company received the parcel on 28th April 2010.
Blue Dart Waybill No : 50108753774
    Pickup Date : 23 April 2010
    From : Mumbai.
    To : Delhi.
    Status : SHIPMENT DELIVERED
    Date of Delivery : 28 April 2010
    Time of Delivery : 16:30
    Recipient : Stamp.
It has been more then 4 month when INDIATODAY didn't refunded my money which is Rs.17489/- + Currier charges Rs575/- .I keep sending the emails about the matter. But your department is not also replying my emails. The matter is taking care by : Piyush Thapa, Manisha, Shiv Bahadur and Jaagriti. But frankly speaking to all the visitors the whole department of INDIA today is mismanaged. I am not satisfied with the services of India today book club. There is no feedback and customer service relation system in your company. If any body is planning to purchase something from India today book club, please don't shop from that company, else you will loose your money. No one is helping me. It was my hard earned money. Now i am planning to move consumer court.

I received a call today saying that I have to deposit 15000 and I will get jewelry vouchers worth 300000. Sounded fishy to me from the start. Glad I found this site. Someone should file a complaint with the police about this.

My ITBC Book Club membership Number: ITBC 08462415. Over the lat 7-8 months period, I was made to purchase several items in the name of my being among the first four in the country, who have become qualified for the draw of cash gifts with a chance of getting atleast 25,000/- if not more in the lucky draw. Further, I had been told during this period I have won agold gift box, with diamond vouchers worth Rs. 6,00,000. For this purpose I was made purchase goods of Rs.29,0000/-, Rs.14,998x 3 times with a promise of providing clubbing facility of vouchers each of Rs. 5,000/-. As recently as a few days back, another 3,298/- was collected promising to fulfil the promise. Now ultimately, it is being told that as a policy, providing of diamond vouchers was withdrawn, and only some diamonds with insurance and certificate about the quality of the diamonds will be given on payment again of certain amount. If this is not cheating and looting , what else is this activity of India Today Bokk Club? Is any responsible peson in the oranization in any position to provide answers for such scam?

Hi. I made a big mistake not to read up on bagittoday. I made an order of adidas shoes n bag along with few other free gifts. Recieved th pckg today and paid 2600 for it. On opening the pack there was only the free gifts of sub-standard quality with no shoes which was the reason i ordered. Cld customer care and they said they had some technical problems. But after reading these posts i have lost all hope. Feeling depressed bcoz it was hard-earned money. Hope no one else falls for their offers. This is what comes frm trusting.

It is entirely a fraud plan to make money by a bunch of illiterates together as a team, which does not have any working office neither do they have any connection with India today. All they do is convince the innocent and draw their card details through a fake IVR. Please beware of such a Fraud and try to give it back to them hard and rude when you receive such calls.

I too have been taken for a ride by this fraud company. In May 2010 I got a call in my mobile with an offer of digital camera, diamond vouchers and free vacation for four for which an amount of Rs. 7568 was transferred to ITBC through my credit card. when after a month there was no response, i contacted the helpline and was told that the offer was cancelled and that the amount would be repaid to my account. from then till date i am a regular caller to the helpline to be informed that my transaction is being processed and that the money will be deposited either next wednesday or monday. the monday has never come. even today i called up to be told that my issue has not been resolved. i asked the chap, Neeraj, to give me the complete address of the firm so that i can send a legal notice, but he denied saying he could not give me the address as it was company policy not to give out the address. i also wanted to know whether i will be paid any interest for the money which they had been keeping with them for the last 6 months, wbut could not get a proper reply. Please advice me what should be my next plan of action? i want to take legal action on the firm.

Register at their new site Bag it today, use false address, and order lots of items via VPP. Then see the fun. If the courier calls about delivery, just keep telling them to wait a few days as you are out of station.

If all of you do it, this should give the bastards something to think about.
